Dr. Sophien Kamoun

Dr. Sophien Kamoun, a Tunisian biologist, is the head of the Sainsbury Laboratory in Norwich, UK. He is known for his contributions to our understanding of plant disease and plant immunity and has been awarded the following accolades:

  • 2003 Syngenta Award 
  • 2013 Noel Keen Award from the American Phytopathological Society
  • Daiwa Adrain Prize in 2010
  • Kuwait Prize in 2016
  • 2018 Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS)
  • 2018 Linnean Medal for his outstanding contribution to plant science

He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea (MAE) in 2011 and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) in 2015.
