Global Survey on Oat Descriptors – Your Expertise Needed
The last list of oat descriptors defined by the FAO was published in 1985. Would you be able to help update the list? Then please read on:
"The FAO Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) and The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT invite oat experts to review and provide feedback on a draft set of descriptors for Avena spp.. The global survey aims to identify a practical core set of descriptors to support the characterization and evaluation of oat genetic resources held in genebank collections globally. This initiative is supported by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). The objective is to help genebank staff collecting and maintaining oat germplasm provide information on their holdings that is relevant for users of the material. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and is open until September 8th, 2026. Participate here: Oat Descriptor Survey."
