"Organic research trials including: performance and development of wheat and oat varieties for organic production, intercropping, cover crops, relay continuous cropping, tillage frequency and intensity, options for non-chemical weed control, and more!

Tour of the Participatory Wheat Breeding Trial and Oat Variety Trial on the organic area at South Farm, in addition to the Organic Oat “B” Yield Trial under Jennifer Mitchell Fetch on the Wheatland Conservation Area just across the road from South Farm. After lunch, tour of the rest of our organic trials and other projects. Click here for a list of the trials.

Begins from parking lot at our centre (watch for signs), come back for lunch, and then return to South Farm for the rest of the tour. At the end of the afternoon, there’ll be a chance for networking with coffee and snacks (courtesy of Grain Millers and AAFC) in the Cafeteria/Thomson Room.

Although there won’t be a tradeshow at this event, there’ll be some space on a couple of tables available for those who wish to bring handouts, etc. of interest to organic producers for distribution over lunch and/or during networking after the tour.

Although there is no admission fee for this event attendees must register ahead of time.

  • Meet at 9:45am outside the cafeteria, watch for signs
  • Bring your own water bottle for the field
